The focus of this site is currently on adult obesity, but the urgent and growing problem of childhood obesity is a cause for concern to all of us, and we are actively working towards collating useful and safe information for healthcare professionals.

Child Obesity News

A German child obesity combined in/outpatient programme funded by a health insurance company (DAK) has been reported to decrease BMI-SDS by 0.36 +/- 0.34 in 162 obese children and adolescents (75 controls had a BMI-SDS decrease of 0.04 +/- 0.17). The programme consists of a 6 week inpatient phase followed by a home-based intervention lasting for the remainder of the year.
